Sup! Sylfania here! Am I even surprised at the fact that my best-laid plans for streaming have been, yet again, thwarted? The Critical Role live show was absolutely bonkers, and I will forever remember it as a fantastic evening in my life. Halloween Saturday has been great but needed the entire Sunday to recover. I am no longer in my twenties and made of rubber, so this old hag needed the weekend to recover.
You might have noticed the slim pickings next week, and that is because November is the season for PhD graduations and I’m attending 3 next week! (insane, I know). On the days I am not, I will try to stream, but I have fallen behind on my writing catastrophically and don’t want to go on a hiatus to catch up on the chapters. How I ate through my backlog, I will never know. But for now, The Firstborn Toll is taking a break as I catch up on APLA and TIBLR (the actual serials posted weekly).
Hopefully, you all will not notice the difference, but I needed to rant. So here we are.

New reel who dis? Charlie ends up in a strange modern-day CEO drama that appears to be well produced but full of clichés. But now he is the Male Lead rather than the Main Character?!
Maybe things are coming up Charlie.
Or maybe he is in over his head.

Jackdaw by K.J. CharlesMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
K J Charles wows again with the second installment in these series, focusing on Dominic Fray and Silas Mason. The story of mistaken identity at first, the battle of minds, the thrill of Challenge. Both of the main characters are intelligent and empathetic men with different opinions on the methods to help others and their country. While the plot itself is stunningly political (just as I love it), the relationship emotionally perfect, their “bedroom” activities are not for my taste. I am grateful for this book to have realised that I am a bit vanilla when it comes to certain things and don’t have to get into the steamy scenes to enjoy the book! David Cyprian ia back again being a boss and I can’t wait to see him in the Third book!
